When my bf told me the City Arms was one of his favourite pubs I was confused, thinking he meant the City Road Inn which doesn't look like it sells much craft beer. But turns out the City Arms is a completely different place and I really liked its unpretentious yet traditional feel, this is basically my platonic ideal of a pub.
Apparently the beer selection is great; they do a range of cask ales and are supplied by (amongst others) Titanic brewery. There didn't seem to be anything in the soft drink selection is not which as someone who often doesn't like drinking in the day and previously didn't drink at all (but likes hanging out with bf in places he loves), is something I noticed - just Coke in a can/bottle would have been nice. They do have prosecco, gin etc on offer though so non beer alcohol drinkers should be fine. Would definitely come back & recommend. -

Decent meat pie, typical for what you'd expect. But an excellent Blonde Cask ..... atmosphere is rather loud for a Sunday. Must be a Sunday Funday in Manchester!

Another day, another pub that I've walked past a billion times and never thought about going in! If the truth be known I think I always thought it was part of the Vine Inn next door which I've been in a few times over the years.
Located in a part of the city that is clearly on the up (just off St Peters Square) it's a traditional boozer of the very old school variety - deceptively sized with a tiny front bar but loads of seating in the back! The drinks on offer are all a little bit stuck in the past for my beer tastes but this isn't a problem for most patrons - they just do lots of bitters, lagers and stouts. I have to say that their beer flights are great value at just over £3.00 where you can get a third of each beer of your choice up to a pint - really good idea and great to see it appearing in more and more pubs!
City Arms is somewhere that's cool to pop into if you're after a quick pint or meeting with friends, I just can't see myself wanting to spend all night here - I think I'd get very bored, very quickly of the beers on offer - but this is my own overly pretentious beery opinion! -

Located close to St Peter's square, The City Arms is a fantastic small traditional pub with bags of atmosphere!
I love going here before going on to the football, it is a good meeting place for a beer and a chat.
Real Ale and food are both served in The City Arms. -

Cool quiet spot to come enjoy a pint by yourself on a calm Sunday evening. The bartender was friendly and helped me count my change. It's still quite foreign to me. I'll get the hang of it soon. There's a very tiny tv with an antique show on. Hmmm. I'll have to retire to my hotel room soon and catch some NFL. Nonetheless, a cool spot. I'll be back next time I'm in town.
